Is that what it is ? I know it's definitely on Portobello golf course but it's been a while since I've been up that way and thought maybe they'd extended the club house. It would be kinda big though eh?

I walk down there quite a lot - I've no idea what it is. As you say, Teddygirl, it can be seen quite clearly on the edge of the golf course but the clubhouse is the tiny wee speck over the road from it.
Has Catz tricked us? Has he doctored the image perhaps?

Oh that would be really sneaky

but he is clever enough to do it.
If I had the time I would take myself up there right now and check it out.
I'll bet he keeps us hanging on all day to find out.

TG try naming the biggest thing you can see on the picture
Wangi. WTF is that?
Could it be one of the things that stick up out of the sea? Its soooooo difficult to make out.

Noticed those circles on the fields off the bypass. Are they round the bottom of pylons?
Or is it a marking in Quarry Park Wangi?

I'm sorry Porty and Wangi, but the previous location can't be Craigentinny Depot.
Whatever this thing is, it's right on the first fairway of the Golf Course and separated from the Railway by a road and a bank of trees.
There is definitely no building like that there now and I don't think this image is that old so what the hell is it???
This is driving me mad.

Yes - that building is the Craigentinny Wheel Lathe.
I have no idea what a wheel lathe is but that's what the sign in front of it says.

Oh wait a minute - I used to walk home from school that way, and for a year or so there was a big development going on in the golf course there - no idea what they were doing, but the area was completely dug up - it looked like they were putting an underground bunker!
I guessed it had something to do with water, but that's all I can suggest :s

Haven't had much time to try and locate Wangi's image but it isn't jumping out and hitting me that's for sure.
Porty the biggest thing I can see on the picture is the North Sea. Depends how you define "thing" though

Well done Mr S
I may be wrong on this one

But the answer is.... The Road works and digging up/dumping/building of the first hole on Portobello Golf course that stopped me taking a short cut for nearly a year!!

So there could be Points all round for this one TG, Porty and Mr S
I don’t know what they were sinking in either Mr S but it looks ominous!! Maybe someone who golf’s at Porty live nearby can tell us or find out for us!!
Wangi, one of the places you visited on your walk?? That is pretty cool..... I wouldn't have guessed that it was one...

Gee,I'm glad we've got that one sorted out. It's difficult when you know a place but haven't been there for a while and suddenly a big thing like that appears out of nowhere.
I know now that saying it was the club house was pretty daft but come on, it was first thing in the morning and I had been on the Punch last night
