POL Social : Friday 23rd September - Dalriada, 7pm.
It's just taken me four attempts at my password to log on here.
I will stay up long enough to drink the very strong coffee I have beside me then I shall have a fistful of Resolve and a big glass of water and retire.
It was lovely to see those again that i already had met and very nice to meet some new faces and hope to see the lurkers on here soon.
I'm on a promise on that last one! You know who you are.

I think it was very brave of new people to come along, even if it did take someof them two and a half hours to get round to speaking to us!
It was nice to meet you all - and to see the rest of you again.
Thanks, Sandra, for arranging it.

All I really need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt!

Glad you got back home safely BB. At some point on the way to the Seahaven I remembered that I was supposed to chaperone you home. Sorry!
(see, I just can't cope with anything more than virtual, low-maintenance friends)
Excellent night out. Great to meet Jackson, Gedge, Granty and her friend. I think the Community Centre would be a great venue for the Valves tribute band and a live launch of Radio Free Porty.
Audio to follow! You have been warned.

Aw! Emily is a natural . Really sweet
You must have only another 70 or so recordings to download Bob!
Thanks again for organising our get together Sandra, last night was great fun. Really enjoyed meeting up with our newbies and of course, seeing the 'usual suspects' again, with a special mention to Mr Epykat
How were the sausages ecm? I stuck to simple cuisine myself and had some toast. I'm feeling surprisingly OK this morning apart from the severe sore throat from having smoked a vast number of your fags. That'll teach me, eh Poppy?
And how about the Christmas single idea that Epykat had -"There ain't no snow in Portobello". A stroke of genius or what?

I'll do my best to get some audio from our version (Emily 2.0)

Good morning all!
I feel rough this morning but what else was I expecting!
The Resolve is more effective apparently if you don't just shake the packet into your mouth and then wash it down with a big glass of water.
I'll know next time.
Like the sound clips, Bob. Emily's is great and Ali and I think there's a touch of the Kirsty Wark's about Bellybabes. She's deffo got a radio voice.
The sausages are still to be eaten, M. I've just managed a bowl of cereal and plan another coffee then Ali and I are off out for the shopping and a stroll.
Bit of fresh air will help hopefully.

the derivation of that story, if you must know, is that i was on a forum where somebody simply said they were moving house and did anyone have any advice - so i decided to give him some whilst making a commentary on how these days you can get anything on the internet.
context is everything i guess. is it still a joke if it needs footnotes?
Well, I just had a wonderful POL experience while out shopping just now on one of the rare Saturdays I get to have in Portobello. I met in chronological order and within about 10 minutes:
Gedge
Jackson Priest
Baby Priest
Mrs Priest
Sandra & Bearcub
and last but not least
Ecm.
PS Hope you got your loaf cut OK, ecm!!

You must have tipped the others off that I was out and about cos I didn't see anyone but you, not that that isn't a lovely experience in itself.Poppy wrote:Well, I just had a wonderful POL experience while out shopping just now on one of the rare Saturdays I get to have in Portobello. They're probably all still in hiding behind trees and wheelie bins waiting for your all clear.
And, yes, my loaf is now sliced.
I'm having relapse number 3 right now.Sandra wrote:Great night, I fell asleep in the armchair. Brill to meet the newbies and fab to catch up with everyone else.![]()
Saw Poppy and Beach Babe and Emily on the High Street.
Hangover not too bad just raging thirst.
I think a soak in the bath and a read of the Viz is in order.

I always think it's a good idea to decide to watch Withnail And I at 2.30 in the morning, fall to sleep within the first 5 minutes of it, and wake up on the sofa at approx 5am. It certainly sets you up for the day ahead.
It was very nice to meet you all last night (and Poppy this morning as well).
I'm off out now to procure some children for the Valves tribute band.

I got home from school once and put "Star Wars" on to play on the video. Next thing I knew, the death star woke me up by exploding.Jackson Priest wrote:I always think it's a good idea to decide to watch Withnail And I at 2.30 in the morning, fall to sleep within the first 5 minutes of it, and wake up on the sofa at approx 5am. One of the (many) things that irked me about the last star wars film was the shot of the death star being built at the end. Which means it took approx 20 years before it was completed, only for Luke to destroy it so heroically (just like shooting Womp Rats, I believe). But then the second, more deadly and more impenetrable (not) death star must have been completed in a matter of months! I know that Lord Vader ordered his minions to "double their efforts" but, frankly: NO! I'm not convinced!I got home from school once and put "Star Wars" on to play on the video. Next thing I knew, the death star woke me up by exploding.
