The Royal Bank in Portobello, but no more.
At one time, not so long ago, the Royal Bank of Scotland had three branches in Portobello. We also had a Clydesdale Bank Branch, but it closed. Soon, there will not be the RBS. We will be left with the TSB and The Bank of Scotland. Who will be first to leave the area and leave us with one bank? If you want to "see" anyone, you will need to go uptown or into Musselburgh. Given that we have an "aging" population,how many will be capable? A case of "never mind Customer Service, just give us the money"?
