New Portobello High School - PPAG win legal appeal

Well.well well. I've just got my copy of the Portobello Reporter. The lead story is "Holyrood May Vote On School In The Park"

I braced myself for the usual PPAG spin, the baseles claims from DC or others, but no. It is a well-balanced and fairly pitched article, that tells it like it is. So well done to the Reporter, which for a while was in danger of having to rebrand as the "Portobello Park Action Group Reporter". The article is a refreshing return to neutral reporting on the schools issue..

On reflection the PR did miss out some key bits of information that the porty community really ought to know about.

a) the existing site will be turned into a new park-with a £1M budget.
b) a school on the park is some £6M cheaper, which when combined with the £4.4M from the Scottish government, will deliver a new St John's on an expanded site and the project can get underway as soon as PHS vacate.

Is a new park and another new school not news?

She wrote on behalf of Portobello Community Council? That seems a bit odd, doesn't it?

Apparently not. Diana has confirmed she wrote in a purely personal capacity, so there's been some kind of mix-up on the part of the Council, who've wrongly assumed she was representing the Community Council.

Must say seems like a bit of a 'cope out' to me to blame the council!!!

Diana has confirmed that she wrote in a purely personal capacity, so clearly there's been sone kind of misunderstanding on the part of the Council. I have written to the Council asking for an explanation of their mistake, so we may get some further clarity.

In my experience, you respond to the details provided by the person requesting the information under FOI.
It will be good to hear more from the Council about what happened.
