Re: Rosefield Park improvements
I think you have to remember that the MUGA is something that local residents requested. It hasn't been forced upon us. And don't forget the boules/petanque area. It already has its own Facebook Page and invitations from other teams in Edinburgh.
Re: Rosefield Park improvements
From speaking to some people who live in WBC they don't like the idea of the MUGA and neither would I if I lived in the street. It's easy for people to say yes to something like this if it's not plonked right on their doorstep!
Re: Rosefield Park improvements
Hi Dino, we live opposite Brighton Park, there is teenage action every weekend but it doesn't ever feel threatening, though it can be noisy especially in the summer, it's a public park so we accept that there will be activity and noise. It's great to see most of the time. I guess you are lucky to have the knowledge about the MUGA when making your decision, and not have it happen unexpectedly once you had moved in.

I hope the future brings great resources for all to use and that the kids will come and enjoy them too!dino wrote:I realise it may only be occasionally that these issues occur at the moment but were worried about what will happen when the muga is installed. This has potential to get worse which is such a shame for the residents because its a really nice street! If only we could see into the future

Re: Rosefield Park improvements
Yes it's good to know about this but it's disappointing too because we will probably not bother because of the unknown with the muga. that's a shame, there is so much in Portobello that is great.

Re: Rosefield Park improvements
A few years ago Maureen and the local community bobbies were looking at a broadly similar idea for the Quarry and there was a sort of mixed reaction to it from the locals. Mostly a sense of not really knowing too much about how it would operate. However, time moves on and understandings deepen and I have to say that on the whole the idea of a muga would be more positively viewed here. If people are using the area for recreational activities in a well lit well populated area, then those intend upon more nefarious activities are less likely to bother. After all, if the area is well lit, no dark corners to get up to stuff and if there are structured activities, then they are more likely to "play" with their mates than just hang out with them! My only concern about the muga at Rosefield is the likelihood that those hell bend on the more nefarious activities, no matter what, will move elsewhere!!
Re: Rosefield Park improvements
Brighton is a bit more exposed for the some! Lot more general people and traffic movement and not so may places to hide, so may not be so much of an attraction.
Re: Rosefield Park improvements
God! what do they get up to in the Quarry park??
Re: Rosefield Park improvements
you have to see some of it to believe it, but they have designated one area as a toilet, with loo roll and everything. There are often tents there overnight as well and it's not the first time our dog has sniffed out a more than amorous couple in the bushes - at 5pm in summer!!!!!!! One year we had the lassies coming into the street and squatting down to pee outside the windows. Overall, these are the exceptions, but QP is unlit, out of sight and away from passers by - I'll let you work it out!!!
Re: Rosefield Park improvements
In that case we get off lightly. Much better to have a MUGA I would think.
Re: Rosefield Park improvements
I see there was an 'incident' in the swing park last night.Police parked outside and the area taped off.
Hopefully nothing too serious.

Afraid not, there was a police car and a van there with the gates taped over on Wednesday(?) morning, Wednesday aftie it was open again.Marya wrote:Did you find out anything more about this Franck?
Re: Rosefield Park improvements
MUGA up and running.Went round with junior last night and had a wee game of football. It was pretty dark, but I think this is terrific.Delighted with this new facility and hopefully kids and adults will enjoy it.
Now, when we starting a boules team?

Re: Rosefield Park improvements
Sounds great Franck - we had a new installation at the Quarry park this week as well! Took the dogs for their early morning constitutional as usual 7.30am on Monday to find a large, bright red motorbike sitting at the play park. Phoned the police, went back in the evening and it was gone. Told the young lad about it and he was most disappointed that I called the police and it was removed, said it would have been a great piece of play equipment!

Have some residents of WBC recently had their doorsteps extended? FFS!!dino wrote:From speaking to some people who live in WBC they don't like the idea of the MUGA and neither would I if I lived in the street. It's a pity you decided to opt out of the house purchase. We lived in the street for almost 20 years and it was a joy. The MUGA will make it even better.
If you do decide to relocate to Porty, you could well feel at home, is is easy to say no to something like this if its not plonked right on your doorstep! You will fit right in.
.....ambition makes you look pretty ugly

Re: Rosefield Park improvements
I know of three people who live in WBC whom have personally told me that they supported the installation of the MUGA.
Justice delayed is justice denied.
