Good to hear from you, Prombabe.
What a dreadful thing to have happened. There was quite a lot of coverage of the Carlisle floods and aftermath on BBC24 at lunchtime today. It looked pretty grim for a lot of folks.
Did you suffer much more damage apart from your porch?
Hope things improve weather wise and that you get back to normal asap.

I have seen the Carlisle football stadium under 3 feet of water but at least it won't effect they way they usually play.

Ouch! Maybe they could re-invent themselves as a water-polo team? You'll never take the Warwick - without some form of sea-faring vessel at least.

I have a friend in Newcastle who is an avid Carlisle supporter, although he is actually Scottish. He describes the most orgasmic moment of his life (and as a George Cluny look-a-like he has had a few), as the occasion where the on-loan goalie, scored the winning goal in injury time that stopped Carlisle being relegated.

Justice delayed is justice denied.

Hi Prombabe - I was horrified to see the pictures of Carlisle on the news. I used to do research in Carlisle and knew the present town very well and liked it a lot. It broke my heart to see it under all that water,

and I feel for all those people with their family possessions destroyed. I hope you yourself remain more or less dry in the next few days, when the second storm comes in.
