FFS - this place is twisted. crawfords - was just linking the conversation not implying yourself at all. Am closely linked to A&B and am defending them as their friend- this is essential because there are members of our PCC who find it funny/ amusing that they have closed and have sought fit to star...

Re: The shops thread (was: Empty Shops on Porty High St)
Looks like thats Annie and Belle cafe closed. Really enjoyed visiting that cafe, was great for the kids, nice setting, nice chat, great coffee...Big loss for me :( very sad indeed. Despite it being very sad there are some equally sad people in our community spreading nasty rumours about these lovel...

So how come the council dont know anything about the TRO when people phone the Roads Dept and they check their register of confirmed TROs?

Re: Bath Street Traffic Restrictions
Today - it seems that the residents at this end of the street have stuck two fingers up to the inadequacies of CEC and are all blatantly ignoring their un-enforcable traffic restrictions/ double yellows. Only people they benefit it seems are the lorry drivers who can get to the bottom of the street ...

A neighbour up the street was so enraged he called the council on Wed and was told that the TRO wasnt actually in place/ adopted or whatever it is they do to ratify TROs - so.....if you get a ticket on those double yellows or are nabbed for parking in that ever empty disabled bay - is it enforceable...

The Jolly is a time warp for me back to when I was a child and my granny used to take us for minestrone, a half and half and the ice cream in a little silver dish with strawberry sauce. I take my 7 yr old now and he gets the free lollies and flat juice lol.

I see they are having a make over at Leith Walk too.
Am a die hard Jolly half pizza/half pasta girl, would feel a traitor if I went to La Favorita. Have been going to Jolly for 30 yrs - and the decor hasnt changed - its an kitsch extravaganza.

Tallying it all up - since Xmas we've lost/ are losing: Annie and Belle, Isa Mae, Earthy, Blockbuster and no 44/ Second Ave - have I missed any? I'd call that a crisis and we're on a v slippery slope whatever way you look at it

The reply from MC is on twitter and Portobello High St facebook group: wont repeat if again on here as the largest group of participants are probably those on the Fb group anyhow and I prefer the open nature of that space.
Re: FOI
MTraill was the proud FOI junkie who bragged about the number he did at the same time as telling everyone he worked for the council and flouted the public money he wangled for working unsocial hours.

The sceptic in me feels that it is all engineered in order to get us all to support en masse a large supermarket app on Bailliefield site when Sainsbury double the council's offer and we've all played our parts marvellously.

Re: Woodwares closing / Sainsburys coming to Portobello
I am beginning to feel like Portobello if left unchecked in the whats best on the conservation front is in danger of turning into somewhere like Rochester - where the locals like nothing more than making a mockery of its days of yore with its pastiche olde worlde shopfronts, festivals full of English...

Kids and Arson in Porty
Two 10yr olds were seen running from the fire they started this evening at 1 High St, Portobello. They set my husband's jeep on fire. Police reviewing CCTV and hopeful of catching them. Postive fecking Porty.

So much for positive porty Mak. Sorry if we're boring you.
Boring - is when you have to wait in every feckin day for over a week for everyone and sundry to come at some point and survey the damage to your property from another feckin lorry. That's boring.

Yes Regent. Maybe James thinks I'm some sado with nothing better to do than curtain twitch. I can assure him that is far from the truth. Thankyou James A for your wisdom on the matter. Knock on the door and we'll have the conversation about the lorries, next time you'd dodging one on the pavement down this way.
