Re: New Portobello High School - Private Bill submitted

First, I'm in favour of the new school being built on Porty Park. I moved a year ago, so I live now in a flat on the old Porty High School, so my kids can go to school by the side of the golf course, instead of crossing Duddingston Park. However I've got some concerns about traffic. Looked up the tr...

Re: Fiasco at Porty Xmas Light Switch On

Thanks for that wangi - didn't realise it was the traders who organised it.

(Although one of the traders said the Minster of the Baptist Church persuaded him to stay open!)

Poor show on the xmas lights though, and I see the same lights have used in other suburbs of Edinburgh.

Fiasco at Porty Xmas Light Switch On

Hi Porty-ites, Wife reported that the Porty Xmas ligt switch on was happening last Thursday, through the Porty page on Facebook Facebook is banned at my work, so just relying on this site for events, so was surprised there was no news of when the switch on of the Xmas lights here. We didn't know whe...

Re: Dedicated off-road cycle path from Portobello to Leith

The problem with Queen Charlotte Street is the Leith Police Station is on that street. However I share your concern of the narrow streets behind the Shore. Hoping that, with the roadworks ended on the junction with Constitution Street, there will be less cars going down the rat-run. @Bazza: Yes, I'm...

Re: Dedicated off-road cycle path from Portobello to Leith

Agreed. Again apparently Sustrans would like a cycle path from Cramond to Musselburgh, ideally by the sea. Howewer they need to negotiate with National Rail, Forth Ports, etc., which takes time.

Re: Dedicated off-road cycle path from Portobello to Leith

Apparently Sustrans are in favour of turning the path south of the sewage works into a cycle path, so avoiding Seafield Road between Seafield Street to the bridge.

However Edinburgh Council for some reason have not added this to the improvements at this time.

Old PHS Bell?

I live in one of the houses converted from the old Portobello High School (1d Duddingston Park), just down from Cherry Tree Nursery. There is a bell gable on the north side of 1d, but no bell. For my idle curiousity, where has the bell gone please? To the PHS? Also, there is a stone gate at the side...
