With reference to the above paragraph PLEASE insert the word "or orchestrate" before "make personal attacks", as there are many examples of CC members making the bullets for others to fire by misrepresenting what has been said or done at CC meetings. The orchestration of attacks on PCC b...

Close.

As best I can tell, they've all signed PPAG's latest petition to "Protect Green Space Across Scotland" within the last few days.

And at least a sub-set may be under the impression that the green space they're trying to protect looks like this:

They're setts not cobbles. Cobbles are just loose stones set into a road surface, whereas setts are cut and regularised stone.

Re: Portobello Community Council

I seem to recall saying that the proposals involved a 30% reduction, which would be 30 down to 21.

Whatever the merits of the proposal, at least my description of it was factually accurate. In marked contrast to the subsequent "clarification".

Under the rules, all the "elected" individual members and all the registered groups would then vote on which groups get represented. But that's never happened in years. The composition of Portobello Community Council is completely out of step with the rest of Edinburgh. Almost all Community Councils...

So what do I get? Whilst some may look at 19 votes in simplistic mathematical terms, and draw unwarranted conclusions without truly appreciating the complexity of the results, I don't think that any reasonable minded person could disagree that, on a symbolic if not arithmetical level, 19 votes clear...

Re: Visit Portobello (and let your dog shit everywhere)

I had to look into the possibility of a dog-free zone on the beach a while back and it wasn't easy. There's an underlying presumption of a right of access under the 'right to roam' and it's difficult to suspend that. The places that do have dog-free zones tend to do it on an implied basis, without a...

But Clare Symonds doesn't go by the name Kyndt. If she did you'd get more than 38 Google hits for the name, 34 of them for someone in Devon and the rest about the letter in the Evening News.

I'm afraid all you've got is conjecture.

There's more. I had always assumed that the size of Community Councils, in terms of members allowed under the scheme, was related to population; having looked more closely, that isn’t the case. The 2011 statistics, give the population of Edinburgh as 495,360. With a total possible allocation of 881 ...

The Council have recently launched a consultation on the rules surrounding Community Councils. It's not on the face of it the most engaging of consultations, but some might find it of interest.

Diana has confirmed that she wrote in a purely personal capacity, so clearly there's been sone kind of misunderstanding on the part of the Council. I have written to the Council asking for an explanation of their mistake, so we may get some further clarity.

Apparently not. Diana has confirmed she wrote in a purely personal capacity, so there's been some kind of mix-up on the part of the Council, who've wrongly assumed she was representing the Community Council.
