As an ex Pizza-Hut employee.... First of all, take-away/delivery units are franchises. This means, they don't come under as much scrunity from the Area Management as the full service restaurants do. However, the manager of such franchises have to pay quite a lot to get a franchise, so if they ARE fo...

Fire Station Closures

I searched and found an old thread talking about Musselburgh, but couldn't find anything else on the latest with these proposals ( http://www.lothian.fire-uk.org/plans/IRMPs/0716-Serv%20Improv%20Plan.pdf ) A fellow scout leader I work with is also a Fireman (is that PC? Fire Person? anyway...) and w...

He's a pratt.

(if you remove the incorrect elements from that, the universe may collapse in on itself! )

seriously though, he's a pratt, and thanks to democracy, I don't need a reason to think that.

All I wondered was if you can't beat the media, is there a better way to use SSP energy and activity to create a message, without being made to look silly in the newspapers? I certainly don't think what the media does is good, but if you can't beat them, is it wise to keep confronting them? This is ...

I should have pointed out - I do agree with most of what the SSP say in principle, and I think if they could pull it off we'd all be much happier. However, I don't think they get favourable press based on the way some of their supporters have been shown to go about making their point.. can end up l...

As an adminstrator, I suppose I should keep my politics under wraps, but I don't mind admitting that I voted, as I did last time, for SSP, although apparently I should have voted LibDem. I'm not surprised that this questionnaire shows that many other people should have voted SSP if they had conside...

Gah, too many poncy liberal types in here.. Do you actually think Galloway is in anyway concerned for the constituency in which he was voted? He's just going to cause unconstructive trouble in the commons (I can see them trying to get him the far top-back seat) to settle a personal vendetta that wil...

BOY RACER! If you're driving within the legal/recommended speed limit for the area (ie 20, for which I think Portobello is becoming enforced, not just recommended) then there isn't a problem - perhaps a slight slow down for the actualy bump which will add all of a few seconds onto your journey time....

Dalriada closed last night?

Anyone know why? I popped along around 8.15pm to find the place closed. There were some lights on up stairs, but the bar was dark and the gate was chained.

Went to the Old Pier instead - very quiet, but not too bad I must say :)

If we are getting nice eating places, bring on a nice/modern bar! Dalriada is good, but there's no bar in Portobello I'd go to. I want something fancy and contemporary!

Yea, just a general geeky thing: .avi is not specifically a format itself, it can actually represent a number of 'compression' methods. .avi's are split into two parts, a video part, and an audio part. The different method of compression for each is decoded with the appropriate 'codec'. You should j...
